BIGGER THE PUNCH I'M FEELING

well they didn't perform that single, but the China Crisis concert was a blast all the same! As usual I was playing bad photographer, and managed to pop off a few shots here from the different events which they graced on our shores.

Backed by an all-star selection which included Rivermaya's Rico Blanco (keyboards), Mark Escueta(drums), The Eraserheads Buddy Zabala (bass), Imago's Zach Lucero (percussions) to name but a few. Apologies to the other keyboardist and the lead guitarist..I'll post your names soon enough!

Let's see..their set started off with African and White, Highest High, You Did Cut Me..after that I was lost in music! Busy snapping photos!!

Well the scousers will be in Manila till the 22nd- so I do hope to hang out with them again soon. Shame Liverpool lost 3-1 to Sunderland over the weekend. Will ask the boys if they think Houllier should be given the boot.

QUARTERLY UPDATE

Well whaddaya know! Am back! (again) So what's been happening lately?!? Well my last entry raved about my anticipation on the NOW CANCELLED OASIS gig..bloody hell! At least we got our tickets refunded..wimps.

I've found a band who are definitely maybe tougher than Oasis (in their own words). Despite travel advisories by Her Majesty's guv'ment, CHINA CRISIS is in town for a few weeks (!!!) and they are playing the PICC Plenary Hall on December 16! Down with Manchester, up with Liv'pool! Here are some pics from their "meet n greet" at The Basement in Eastwood City.

More of Merseyside! "New Wave" legends The Lotus Eaters were here too! Here's the evidence! Jeremy and Peter sang their old classics and also material from their newer albums. Top drawer stuff!

Speaking of gigs and pics, D'Sound was here too! Got photos to prove it! Kim, Jonny and Simone wowed the crowd at The Shangri-La!

ULF IS DEAD PART DEUX
dammit after waiting a freaking month for Honda to fix my car, it displays the same symptoms after a week of use!!! So ULF is back in Honda and they are waiting for this part from Japan which is suposedly the root of all evil. Hell am not paying a cent more (well, except for the part itselft, labor is free coz its a back job). I am not satisfied at all with Honda's service and customer relations! Always give you the run around, etc etc. So that has forced me to play my hand...

SAY HI TO ECHO
switched allegiances to Toyota after my friend cut me a deal of the century with his 1-year old Toyota Echo. Ride is a bit stiff but interior is lurvly and seems well put together. Plus the automatic tranny is light years smoother than the big H. These cars should have sold better here, but sadly Manila is a sedan market...well am happy with my Versailles, France designed automobile. Say hi.

FROM FOUR WHEELS TO TWO
also switched my dirt allegiance from GT to Schwinn! So I now tear around the trails here on my Schwinn Moab 2 mountain bike. Of course my old parts from the GT were transplanted to it, save for a new Truvativ bottom bracket and crankset. Suffice to say it handles sweet. Bike porn here. Fellow Lateo FC team-mates Alex, Leeds and Gue make up the riding group- we hope to influence more of our team-mates to join the DIRT SIDE. Need some inspiration? Check out the Passion forum at mtbr.com, or browse thru Dirt Rag Mag.

DEFINITELY MAYBE
well I stand corrected - OASIS is indeed coming to town late October- heard that front row tickets would cost you P3,000, well thats around USD60 if yer a Yank, or around 45 quid if yer a bloke. Am thinking of going (who isn't!?) But I have to rethink my financial situation in light of recent events:

ULF IS DEAD
well, I actually hope not! ULF is my Honda Civic, which refused to go into reverse gear last Saturday! I had to push the bugger (that's a term of endearment)out of my parking slot in Greenhills, and nurse it home. Didn't use it the rest of the weekend as you know how automatic trannies go- I might lose mroe gears. Well took it to the dealership to be fixed, and according to them, worst-case scenario, it would cost P40,000! well thats around USD800 if yer a Yank, or around 650 quid if yer a bloke. Bugger me. So now I have to scrounge around for rides to work- well, there's always my brother's Beta Ark (fancy Italian scoot, used it today oi!), or better yet, my trusty bicycle. Just hope it doesn't rain!

FUCKIN' PINOYS
here we go again! are we the only country where if it rains super hard, people turn on their hazard lights? what's with that? Yes you may be more visible (you SHOULD turn on your headlights whenever you turn on your wipers actually), but will they know if and when you are going to turn (as if drivers here use their turn signals anyway). Hazards are for emergencies right? Come to think of it, witht he way people drive here, they are all HAZARDS. I wouldn't mind having Daisy Duke in my car though hehe, that is, if my car was named The General.

At least we aren't as bad as India yet, where drivers toot their horns till the car in front of them pulls aside to let them through- strange.

WITHOUT ME
guess who's back? Seems I've finally decided to pursue this blog thing (albeit half heartedly), as a healthy outlet for my opinions!
Partly responsible was a brief exchange of color over at Meg's and Marky's regarding a certain Agent Orange.

FUCKIN' PINOY
I've also decided to create a new section dubbed "Fuckin' Pinoy". Which of course serves to highlight things which are unabashedly Pinoy! Case in point:

was out in Makati last night and I was trailing this Ferrari, which was being trailed by 2 more vehicles which were its "escorts". Of course these two escorts muscled their way between me and their "amo" (which means "master" - go figure). I go WTF!? If you want security, why go around in a flashy car (in rush hour traffic). Plus his escorts were honking away with their sirens expecting people to clear the way- yes! call more attention to yourself! What use would that be? I even managed to maneuver my Honda (go Jordan-Honda! - sadly they'll be powered by Ford next season, as for BAR-Honda, am not a Villeneuve fan hehehe but I digress) right next to the Ferrari (like the team by the way- not quite a fan of M Schumacher either). Suffice to say if I was Leon, The Professional, I would've killed them all, Matilda. Ok, ok, granting that he is a politician (so what!?) aren't these people supposed to be PUBLIC SERVANTS? Ah wait we are in the Philippines- where running for office, working in government, is not a service..its a career! Anyway, the buggers used their sirens to influence the "Traffic Enforcers" (a local term for umm..people who make sure there is traffic hahaha..actually, its actually people who supposedly make sure that traffic is moving smoothly..but then again..if traffic WAS moving smoothly, they'd be out of a job..so I guess, part of their job description is to make sure THERE IS TRAFFIC), and make them run the red light. Of course I followed this 3-car convoy! hell, I AM JUST AS IMPORTANT AS THE GUY IN THE FERRARI IS! For I am, BLOGUSTUS!

HEADPHONES
Seems the angst has spilled over to this morning, as I have The Cult queued on my WinAmp. Nothing like rock n roll, rock n roll, and rock n roll, guitars, guitars and more guitars! Tracks with titles like "Peace Dog", "Wild Flower", "Spiritwalker", "King Contrary man", "Love Removal Machine"! Now where did I put my Cult shirt? Shake it don't break your baby!

OI!! Heard rumours that Oasis is coming to town- well all I know is that they are touring Australia now, mate. Till the 20th of October as I see it- then off to the States come December. Could a possible November concert be in the offing? That would be the poodle's nads, know wut I mean? For all I know, they could be flying in just for some R&R in one of our remote islands. Why would they give a bugger about our pitiful country anyway?
